Florence had a long tradition of political and cultural exchanges with the East, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century, and the richest families of the city bought works of exceptional value produced by the Islamic medieval and Renaissance culture, as well as influencing some of the most important local productions.
Laboratori Archeologici San Gallo has edited a new guide on Florence to make known to the tourist, or to the curious Florentine, the long history that links Florence to the Oriental and Mediterranean world and allowed the accounts of the collections of the splendid Islamic artifacts that, are part of the city’s heritage since the time of the Medici and are now hosted in the major Florentine Museums.
The guide can be PURCHASED HERE, on the site of the publisher All’Insegna del Giglio and was written with the scientific supervision of Guido Vannini and Giovanni Curatola, with the contribution of the Talal Abu Ghazaleh Organization.
